Holy Week 2010

Requests for Weddings and Holy Baptism should be made at the earliest date possible. Baptisms will take place within the context of the Holy Eucharist, on particular feasts of the church year, usually at the 10:30 am Sunday Service. It is important that the Christian Community be present for the Baptism as the service incorporates the person being baptized into the Body of Christ which is the worshipping community. Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist are the sacraments which mark our Christian participation and it is, therefore, appropriate that we celebrate the new Christian`s entry into the Church with thanksgiving in the context of the Holy Eucharist.

  • Depending upon the service, the B.A.S. or the B.C.P. may be used.
  • The choral services feature music of a traditional nature.
  • A magnificent pipe organ accompanies our choir.
  • Child care in the form of Sunday School is provided during the 10:30 service.
  • A coffee hour is held in the Langworthy Hall after the 10:30 am service.
  • Arrangements can be made for the use of the Lincoln St. entrance for wheel chair access

Guidelines on Receiving the Holy Eucharist

A baptized Christian of any denomination is welcome to come forward to receive Holy Communion in the Anglican Church.

When receiving the bread and wine we respond each time, “AMEN”.

To receive ONLY the bread, place you hands together in front of you, then cross your arms over your chest until the cup (wine) has passed. If also receiving the wine, please help the server by using your hand to guide the base of the cup.

Unbaptized persons of any age are welcome to come forward for a blessing, crossing your arms over your chest.

Please note that it is entirely acceptable to receive the Holy Eucharist in one kind only, that is, receiving the bread or the wine alone still contains the full benefit of the sacrament. If you do not wish to receive the wine, simply cross your arms in front of your chest to indicate to the eucharistic assistant that you do not wish to receive. Intinction, that is, the dipping of the wafer into the chalice is no longer an acceptable practise in the Diocese of Algoma because of the transmission of disease by the hands
